Advanced Contact Solutions Inc. (ACS), has been reported to lay off 900 of its call center agents/ BPO employees when it lost a major US-based client that filed for bankruptcy.

This event is clearly a ripple effect of the current US financial and global crisis.  Most call center companies nowadays are worried about this.  However, some view this crisis as an opportunity to get more North America-based companies to outsource more their cost centers to outsourcing countries like India and the Philippines.

The Philippine government is quick to react by saying that this event is not an indication that the call center industry is in peril.  But however we look at it, it is a clear indication that tough times are coming ahead of us.
