Convergys Opened Up a New Call Center Facility in Asiatown IT Park in Cebu

Convergys Corp., a leading business process outsourcing company worldwide, has opened its third facility at the Asiatown IT Park here and is now looking for people for fill in their vacancies. Around 1,000 new jobs awaits for the Cebuanos and the Visayas region residents. Convergys believed that Cebu has the workers with qualifications, including English skills, intelligence and patience, needed by the BPOs.

The company decided to open another facility in Cebu, which is considered the outsourcing hub in the Visayas, because of the presence of talented and skilled manpower base in the city. Convergys noted that the presence of good universities here has also helped ensure there would be enough manpower to meet the growing demand from the BPO industry.

Contrary to popular belief, Convergys has been bullish with launching new call center facilities in the Philippines to erase doubts that the global economic slowdown has impact on the company’s operations. Convergys is still on track with our growth plan and proof of that is our expansion, according to an official spokesperson.

This new Convergys site in Cebu City was launched simultaneously with two other centers in Luzon – the UP-Ayala Land TechnoHub facility in Metro Manila and the Nuvali TechnoHub facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna. This is a testament to the firm belief by Convergys that the company still finds the Philippines was a key contributor to the success of the firm’s customer management business.

With the opening of the Cebu, the company has become the largest BPO provider in main city of the Visayas. Convergys believes that it will allow them to build upon the success of utilizing the skills and talents of our people in the Philippines especially in the Visayas region. The company lauded the Filipino call center professionals who had helped the company maintain its clientele.

Five years after it started operations in the Philippines, Convergys has put up 12 contact centers in the Philippines, seven in Metro Manila, three in Cebu City, one in Bacolod City and one in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
